To The Bard Of Bengal Poem by Rimni chakravarty

To The Bard Of Bengal

The bard of Bengal sang in profuse strains
He was a versatile genius from whom creations poured like rains
That fall from the sky and wet the dry lands to make it fertile
For the crops to grow
In the history of Indian literature too history was made as our bard did sow
The seeds of English poems that enabled our Indian English Poets to pour out their music all the while
Whether in the pages of Sahitya Academy or Common Wealth Poetry
Many of our poets have won accolades in English Literature
And they were led by our bard who sang the song of love, seasons as well as Worship
His love poems could never be distinguished from that of worship
The reason was in the perspective of our bard love should always be equated with beauty more than skin deep
That itself become a religion
Where it is the religion of humanism
Today His songs unite they who admire his compositions with sincere feelings
His songs can never offer any misgivings
Rather bind us altogether in every occasion
Be those moments of celebration
Be those moments of solitariness
Where his songs play the role of prayer
To connect ourselves with the Almighty our eternal love
His songs guide us to travel alone when the path is tough
When we grope in the darkness
Rabindra sangeet help us to harness
Those moments with a stoic attitude
His compositionswill always be held in great magnitude
To me his songs guide me to enjoy my solitude

Physically Tagore is no where
Mentally Tagore is nowhere
May I close my eyes
To soar up the skies
To receive His blessing
And unto his glory sing
So the world acknowledge my presence
With a smile I could spread my fragrance
As does a blooming dale
I would too set sail
Happily and cheerfully in my world of imagination
My fingers would then guide me to paint my creation

Dear Kobiguru I stand with gratitude
Before your portrait to receive thebenediction
So I could smile to all the friction
Life offer witha great altitude.
