To Nicola Poem by Matthew Holloway

To Nicola

The last we saw of each other
we shared an impassioned kiss
since then not a single word I've heard
a sorrowful fall unto my heart
that from which I had hoped
a new beginning, a new start
I believed in the chemistry and magic
in that of which we shared
alas my disillusion was all but that
and such hopes were not to be
still, still i hope to awaken
on that morning after our kiss
where your lips still lingered on mine
and that such passion became realised
that they continue to be with words and action
and furthermore kisses are shared
and so to this cold reality
my misjudged beliefs arrive
the chemistry I felt between you and I
followed by such a silence
means our kiss I shall remember
as a fading accident
never to be repeated
