At the Prostate Cancer Center
My presence here now affirms
‘Tis neither a dream nor nightmare
I'm now a cancer victim
Fear and uncertainty abreast
Exposing a future now bleak
A battle with cancer my lot
A fact this center now confirms
My heart sank, my plans arrested
And in this sea of confusion
My demeanor fear protested
Your smile quieted my concerns
I recall your face even now
Your greeting enlivened my hopes
And I knew I would be alright
And now, my fears are subsided
Our healing begins with you
We draw from each one of you
Hope, courage, strength and resolve
Each visit blissful reunion
You give hope and encouragement
I came in frightened and confused
I walked out strengthened and assured
You're indeed the best caregivers
The gloom I wore on my first day
Has given way to brightness
And with your heartfelt caring
I shun contrary prognosis
Your countenance is the balm
That nurse us to life each visit
We're the radiance of your verve
And our smile is our gratitude
Your kindheartedness breeds hope
Your smile and liveliness, comfort
And through your care I can avow
I'm a cancer survivor
