Oh the tree of birch
How soft you are from outside!
And how callous you are from inside!
Did you ever ponder over it?
Your bark is so soft that peels readily
it is as membranous as silk
But your inner part is so hard
That can not be pierced easily
It is as hard as stone
I find myself dilemmatic
in recognizing you
Because you disguise yourself adeptly!
