To Be Loved By Him Poem by Donna McCord

To Be Loved By Him

A confession of love in an intimate moment
He softly kisses my slumbering cheek
And hastens to gather what strength was not spent
To face a new day this week.

His unfailing devotion to this thirty year union
Shines ageless as the years turn him gray.
Lord, please help my girls sort through the confusion
And send one just like him their way.

Have there ever been bad times with him? , you may ask,
And I stop and ponder that thought.
We worked at our marriage, an easy task
And time is all that we fought.

There are so few like him, this dear man of mine.
He’s solid gold goodness within.
And I will die happy; I have peace of mind,
For I was blessed to be loved by him.
