To Be A Fool Poem by Rick Elpers

To Be A Fool

Stifling emotions whirl inside
my heart knowing now
the truth of another heart
that was Never there.
Breathless feeds my
existence longing to wither
away hiding from the foolish
idea that I was loved but never loved
nor cared for, nor respected
enough to be told a truth of all truths.
Led down the road blindly
Betrayed beyond belief
Red faced full of shame
If I had a tail it would be
between my legs
like a beaten dog
