To Be Poem by Will Fiala

To Be

At light’s first dawning
I stood in awe of all
With life a-yawning
The rains the snowflakes fall
Amid those showers
For many lonely hours
I heard your callin’ me, to be

Taught how when younger
To breathe an’ think an’ love
There came this hunger
To find what life’s made of
Through freezing cold
My show became so bold
Deciding what it meant, to be

Time slowly rolled and their words fell by
Lonely refrains, lonely blind
I came to know that my world’s all mine
Unveiled believing in my myth
Leavin’ theirs far behind

So what’s been learned
Through all those moon-lit showers
Through playin’ songs
In all those dim-lit bars
I’ve come to know
This world don’t say so for me
I’ve got to sing my song, to be

To be, to be, to be
