Time Left Poem by Dan Jensen

Time Left

We sit every night,
I look into your eyes,
I see no fright, only bright,
I knew our bond had no lies.

You lay sleeping in the bed,
The duvet held tight over you,
I didn't know what was to happen yet,
You are my one and only lovebrew.

One day opened the door I had,
You stood there ahead of me with a face,
Tired, hurt and sad,
Without knowing, that was the failure, of our trace.

I asked why you looked like that,
I did not notice, a tear was falling down my chin,
I guess I knew what was coming, the souless rat,
Now, the painful and heartbreaking road, may begin.

I heard your words, and I got your meaning,
'I don't love you no more' I understood the loss,
You shut the door, my heart is screaming,
Did you just my heart away toss.

I walk somewhere unknown, my cheeks full of tears,
I sit by a river, looking down aknowledging my mistakes,
Without you, I don't have spirit, strength and wanting to fight my fears,
All I have left, is myself, my broken heart, and my neverending aches.
