Thrown Overboard Poem by Rita Shay

Thrown Overboard

Rating: 2.5

When the waves take you down
Will you swim?

When you feel death’s winds wrap around your neck
And millions of icy drops swarm you
For hours on end,
Will you keep flaling your arms?

Will you push your head
Above the water,
When you know the only thing
To greet you is an empty sky of despair?

When for miles water and sky
Are the only things your tired eyes
Can find
Will you swim for
Land you cannot see?

While you drown
Will you see the ones
Who always kept you going
And paddle for them?

Will you fight when the sea grasps you
And pull you down
To the cold dirt home below?

Will the sea take you
When the waves have crushed
You too many times?

Or do you fight with nothing
And live for everything
When you get lost
In icy waters?

Really a good time to hold your nose.
