Three Times Poem by Jess Silva

Three Times

What hope is this for passing pairs, to see this open hole,
A chance to fall, to lust, to hold, an argument to be told.
The soft touch of new carpet laid, still leaves carpet burns,
If you rub hard enough, which you do, once, twice, three times.
Do you see the threads grow weak? Then tell me, what hope
May linger on their tongues, when the taste becomes less sweet.

So here we are barefoot, treading across silky wires, toe to heel we
Creep and kneel, follow each other so close, if we fall, we fall together,
Upon our plight, we ask no other. We stand by each other. Once.
Twice. Three times.

So many obstacles that it is hard to see you, I pull the string that holds
Us together, it brings you back, all things clear, it’s so near now you
Are here. Our eyes they look, like roving eyes, and still your love is the
Only one I like, no more no less, because you’re the only one, tonight, once, twice, three times. Here paired couples, here is your hope, because this is our story, won’t you stop and look upon our glory?
