This Way Please Poem by sreelekha premjit

This Way Please

I showed him the way
to my house
where I spent year after year
eager to meet
anxious to embrace
tired of waiting
I heard of his coming
and couldn't wait any more
So I got up dressed in finery
and stood at the door
He, surprised asked
'I am a committed visitor
but none has so welcomed me'
I smiled to say
knowing you as my true friend
I lived my life
now when you call
why should I be shy?
So we sat and over a cup of coffee
he did what he had come to do
set life free of this body
and feeling light and happy
we flew together, he and I.

A lovely poem. A paradoxical take on life and death which is beautifully expressed.
