This Little Thing I Do Poem by GREENWOLFE 1962

This Little Thing I Do

Rating: 5.0

I don't know why I came to see
The girl that I once knew.
Except to say she might approve
This little thing I do.

She never cared that much for me.
But this I can forgive.
For I expect she knew my thoughts
On how she chose to live.

She knew I cared enough for her
To leave her to her life.
Though she once said she'd not consent
To be a loving wife.

And so I came this special day
As I have come before.
When she requires my services;
Each time, she hurts me more.

Why I let her torture me
Is anybody's guess.
So I have come, for I still care,
Expecting nothing less.

But this may be the final time.
She doesn't look so well.
I fear she'll find the afterlife
A bitter place to dwell.

Now, you may think it harsh to say
What I have said of her.
But all I've done is tell the truth,
So why should I defer?

And as I've said of her before,
I love her as she is.
I pray she'll find the answer soon,
To lifetime's lonely quiz.

For though she never found true love
While searching every place.
She might just look inside my heart,
When we come face to face.

Perhaps that's why I came to see
The girl that I once knew,
Hoping that she may approve
This little thing I do.

Some people we become attached to emotionally, and it just never ends. No matter how badly they treat us, or ignore us, we still continue to hang in there, perhaps wishing for a change of heart? A sad but true statement, this poem is, and hits home with incredible insight. Well done! Linda :)

Seems very personal Greenwolfe...., but I'm sure that Lamont will like it much more than anything I've written. So there's always one thing you can always find comfort in, remember and cherish....., he HATES my stuff a lot more than yours. And I don't blame him...., I HATE my stuff too....! ! ! Regards, Trade.

Are you saying 'good by' to the muse who inspired your heartfelt poetry. There is always someone who drives us to the extremes in emotions especially when love follows hate follows regrets follows sad memoiries longing to be fulfilled but forever love unrequited.I think everyone meets that someone whom we don't measure up to that person's standards and yet we find forgiveness for ourselves and for them..Always hang on to a piece of your heart or you will never recover from the Arrow's whims.
