This Is One Reason Poem by Francis Duggan

That we are born to die it is obviously clear
But it is only the fear of death that we do fear
Even those who believe for the soul of a life after bodily death
Will struggle for life in their last living breath
No deceased person as of yet has come back to tell
Of an afterlife for the soul or of a heaven or a hell
And though many believe in a god in a paradise somewhere in the sky
That they do fear death one must wonder why
For the reason for this one can only explain
That of the existence of a life after bodily death some doubt with them remain
And the reason they fear death is their fear of the unknown
Though this is a fear they do not claim to own
And this is one reason most every woman and man
Wish to live for as long as they possibly can.
