They Will Come Again Poem by Tony Adah

They Will Come Again

They used us as a stepping stone
To climd the mountain
And they have laid barricades
That separate them from us.
The sun rises from the mountain
And set low in the valley
Where the masses huddled like
Drill monkeys in a cage.
We are waiting beside the shrine
Where the diviner's prescription will bring
The down low to us
To wring the chicken's neck for a sacrifice
That neither the gods nor we shall eat.
