They Said It Was Placebo Poem by Lia Padena

They Said It Was Placebo

she narrowed her eyes and she whispered like the wind through the rocks
in the fall
her elbow pain began to sow
with the pain of the branches of the trees cooled too suddenly
and it started again and it started
when she opened her eyes under her eyelids she had a whitish mist
clean and cold as was the fog on the mountain
  crossed
by her sun as she fell
like a start of the evening in the child she was
because the nerves were pulling her
and it had begun
lift me away from weakness
the pain begins again
she cried out to the moon
but now to her right shoulder it had been added
they said it was placebo
a mysterious force
