These Winter Translations

these winter translations cannot hide the chill
and all the words forever going everytime uphill
and frozen are all meanings there distilled

the touch of frost is evident in the rose
the blighted roots are everywhere deposed
I pity the Romantics to their souls

who in these versions reposed
who didnt realize how
their poems were decomposed.

better it was for them to be unknown
than by the translators thus to be
disowned.
