There's Somethin' Not Right Around Here Poem by Buddy Bee Anthony

There's Somethin' Not Right Around Here

Our drinking water's tainted.
There's flash floodin' in our streets
Doin' shaky, shimmy, shuffles
scrounging for something good to eat

Since, the food turned wretched,
Rot, GMO and MSG.
There's somethin' not right around here.

Crusty kids shivering on sleeping bags
over cardboard mats.
Casted away sail boat captains
amidst menacing deck rats..
Camo fends off savage tweakers
and The Repo Man.
There's somethin' not right around here.

Park Patrol snuffs out another stray cat on a wire.
More crabs tossed in their buckets
and into the fire.
I'll tell you the hard truth
Best be a real good liar.
There's somethin' not right around here.

More drugs are being copped
than raindrops.
Business is booming
and it's pouring non-stop.
The music is blasting
and the bells keep ringin'.
Since, the needle found the vein,
the bars won't stop bangin'
There's somethin' not right around here.

I'd like to tell you
I've seen it all
but each day's a new one on me.
'The Art Of The Deal'
wrought the workin' mans grief.
Bossman's a lawyered up Indian Chief.
There's somethin' not right around here.

One more broken toy soldier
succumbs to the lash.
His hand went in her cookie jar
where her cookies weren't stashed.
We know what we know
Better move in real slow.
Cuz, there's somethin'
not right around here.
