Them (I Mean Us) Poem by Candace Johnson

Them (I Mean Us)

I believe you
I hate them
They are horrible people
Just like you said

But know I don't know what to do
Since I strayed from you
Since I've changed from one of us
To one of them

I still believe you
I still hate them
Even if that means hating myself
I can't help it

You've pounded it into my head... making me believe it's true
So now every time I think about them
I mean us
I think about what abominable creatures we are

You can deny it
Say it's not true
Say that I'm only rebelling against you
But you can't change it... it's just the way it is

What you can do is forgive me
Tell me that it doesn't matter
And still love me
Or even just forget that I've strayed away
