The You I See In Love Poem by Bruce David

The You I See In Love

Rating: 5.0

Is the 'you' I see
The 'you' that's there?

There must have been
Some pain somewhere
To've wiped the joy
From off your face
To've slowed you talk,
Your walk, your pace

What pain?
What thrill?
What cause?
Or lust?
Robbed you from
Our sacred trust?

I don't know!
And yet I care
Since I see you in despair
Since I see your tired face
Your sharp remarks
Your stiffness.

O island that
Stands alone...
What need have you
for water, earth, or God?
