The Woman Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

The Woman

Rating: 4.0

In a room filled with pastel people you were radiant
At a time when the stars were aligned and eternal
Your easy manner and carefree smile filled all space
This frozen moment's beauty, before the blind man's fall

Still.....

My character does not chase dream laden ships of yesterday
Nor does it suffocate in the spent grains of the hourglass
Yet there you are the measure of all I could hope for-gone
Yes, I am wiser but sadder for the cursed lessons learned

I sometimes visit this island in the phantom sea of my regret
There in my dreams we bask timeless under a forgiving sun
There at last our lotus hearts open in honest friendship
Petty fame and fortune could never equal this poet's desire.

Petty fame and fortune, they come and go, but real love is eternal! Thanks for sharing, Edmund!

Everyone is special to someone. Your poem touched me both as a poet and an emotional human.

This poem speaks of a person moving forward from a broken relationship from a special person (in a sea of pastel people... There YOU were... Different from the rest) ... More than being about the other person, thecwritecrealky focuses on the capacities of the speaker to move forward in a healthy positive manner, by not wallowing in regret, and by accepting friendship and a 'new' relationship.
