The Watcher Poem by Heather Owens

The Watcher

I hide on the other side
I watch and sigh
as life loves and cries
I see these creatures
foreign to me
they act in ways
unknowable by me
I ponder at times
always wondering why
I listen to them sob
but never do I help them along
They live fast and soon pass
leaving little behind
I watch all day
never will I understand
why live with pain
but still they smile
laugh and play
enjoying the little happiness that comes their way
