The Wall Poem by Michael Carlson

The Wall

When I look at you,
I look through the scars
and the lies you hide behind.
It's not just the pain and suffering i see,
I see beauty

When i look in your eyes
I see the real you.
Through the tears i see
the person you truly are.
The person you wish
everyone else could see.

Just because they don't see the things I see in you,
Doesn't mean they're fake or any less true.

It's just you can't be afraid to let them in to see the truth.
You built the wall and they were willing to climb it.
Are you willing to meet them on the other side without a fit?

Don't be afraid of the things you do,
of that which makes you you, of whom you really are
Embrace it, tear down the wall
