The Verdict Poem by Chelsea Pieterse

The Verdict

Silence as the verdict is read
'Found guilty on four accounts
of neglection and abuse of joy
and first degree murder of joy'
Silence, still eagerly awaiting her sentence
'You are hereby sentenced to life
in darkness.No chance of perole'
Grief and anger cuff her hands
chaining her to the sorrows of herself
pulling her out the courtroom
down the steps to isolation.
Darkness sucks her in immediatly
consuming her soul with greed.
Fury and Rage storm the long passages
their rampage echoing through the empty blackness,
guarding over darknesses desperate prisoners.
Grief and Anger, joined now by Agpny
throw her into her cage
the begining of forever in darkness.
Depression and Hatred encase her
Their putrid breath suffocating her with wordless lies.
Her eternal cell mates.
Every morning death offers her his comfort
for her never ending tears
And every night he tries to save her
from deppressions and Hatreds violence.
All he wants to do
Is end realities nightmare
and give her, her only dream
of happiness and peace.
But all he can do is wait...
Wait for her to take his hand
and jump with him to freedom...
