The Unused Word. Poem by Melanie Candy

The Unused Word.

It’s hard to say how I’m feeling
I’m sorry but it’s true
And you will never hear me say these words
The ones of I love you

I don’t do it for entertainment
For fun or to be amused
It’s just that I’ll never say those words
For those words will remain unused.

But one thing you will know about me
I’m straight up, I’m as straight as it gets
I’m no loose cannon
So there’s no need to place any bets

I’m straight but not to the point where I’m cruel
I say how it is but never to hurt you or others
I will help you in anyway I can
But remember I won’t be anybody's fool

People think that I’m so strong
Others have commented that I am cold
The thoughts of these people
Oh how they have got it so wrong

I’m not that strong
I just stand up for things that are right
The protection of land, animal and others
To stop the pain, suffering and destruction
This I will always continue to fight.

I am not cold
Keeping others at arms length you may say
I keep people at a distance
To keep them from tearing down my wall
By laying new bricks to my row day by day
So they can't kick me and help me to fall
And everyday that extra row of bricks I lay
Helps me to stay up straight and stay standing tall
