The Unexpected Enemy Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

The Unexpected Enemy

They prepared us to face predators with furious crabby faces
Multiple limbs filled with green liquids as blood.
With a mighty strength, ten feet tall etc. etc. etc.
We expected monstrous ships will descend from the sky;
We expected unbelievably sophisticated automatic weaponry;
We expected an un-matching intelligence and gigantic data bases,
In such an invasion against our kind.
The enemy came - an invisible, to be precisely an invincible.
A tiniest one came but having not a single brain cell. And
All at once all mighty humanity with its many sciences knelt down.
There will be a tomorrow it might gone
But there will be many phases to come with more power
With the sole purpose of eliminating evils on earth.
