The Undertaker Bees Poem by Sheena Blackhall

The Undertaker Bees

In the busy world of the bee
Each one has a specialised occupation
BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ
The Royal bee, the matriarchal Queen
Lays eggs, the future of the colony
With her, the drones engage in impregnation

Workers fan the air to cool the hive
The central heating experts in situe
BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ
Wax bees create rich honey, liquid gold
So many workers with so much to do

Others clean the cells: insect domestics
Bred to keep the combs all superswept
BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ
The Queen's attendants' task..see she's well kept

Then there's the comb to build, there's pollen duties
Nurse bees to nanny the babies, royal jelly
BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ
Field bees forage for water, pollen, nectar;
Guard beesmust protect the hive, stings ready

The undertaker bees drag off the dead.
The dying too, are lugged away and dropped
To keep the colony clean for those alive
The wisdom of the bees, men should adopt
Work for the good of all, with no complaint
BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ
Each bee has the work ethic of a saint

From the dedication of the bees we humans have to learn a lot. Each performs his duty very religiously to make their lives better. Very beautifully crafted poem. Thanks for sharing. 'The wisdom of the bees, men should adopt Work for the good of all, with no complaint BZZZZZZZ brum brum BZZZZZZZ Each bee has the work ethic of a saint'... is so nice.10++
