The Unavoidable Face Poem by Prateep Sengupta

The Unavoidable Face

Rating: 5.0

More it was attempted
Distinct it became more
To further new heights did it soar
Its mute cacophony
All the silence invaded.

It never really got erased
Sometimes the face was funny
At times sombre and rainy.
Alternating between appearance and reality
A silhouette of the same personality
From behind the screen
The face always got raised.

It spoke in a quiet voice
Forcibly banished
In steady step it returned.
Its own colour did it spray
The alphabets had no choice
Except its command to obey
In every horizon it had its flavour sprinkled
From behind the flakes it always twinkled.

It could never be caged
Finally learnt to live with the
Inevitable chain.
Repeated efforts have failed
Lesson has been taught
It will appear again and again.

For me ‘Highly Symbolic’ poetry…’Unavoidable Face’ in guise may be representing 'Conscience'…Bengali Literati Shankar, wrote ‘ Conscience is like pin in repaired shoe pricking while walking others can’t see but owner feels while walking....here the same cocooned in the jocund package of both words and concept… thanks for sharing Ms. Nivedita UK 10/10
