The Thing Called Love Poem by Francis Duggan

The Thing Called Love

And what is love don't ask him as he doesn't know
Though he thought he loved but that was years ago
But how can one love one who doesn't love you?
As love's a thing that must be shared by two.

And he once heard a wise old lady say
That love's a thing one doesn't find every day
That she'd lived for sixty years and her hair now silver gray
And all down those years love never came her way.

The thing called love bring happiness and tears
And some know love if just for a few years
And some find love but love with them doesn't stay
Like flower of Spring it go into decay.

He has travelled far so far from his own home ground
And met with many but love he has never found
And those who find love are of the chosen few
And love true love is something he never knew.
