The Teddy Bear Poem by Eric Ericson

The Teddy Bear

Rating: 5.0

The teddy bear is stained and worn
its face pushed oddly flat.
I pause to wonder when I'm old
if I will look like that.

The teddy bear is old and worn
but loved beyond degree.
I got him from my grandpa
when I was only three.

Now teddy has a new home.
It's one which I adore.
My son found his balding hide
when he was only four.

The teddy bear though old and worn
keeps watch upon his bed,
where he can find it in the night,
by moving just his head.

The teddy bear is old and worn
but has much love to show.
When my son's "girlfriend" picked it up,
she could not let it go.

The teddy bear is old and worn
and stained and bald and flat.
I hope, that when I'm very old,
that I'll be loved like that.
