The Spider Queen Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

The Spider Queen

“Arise! ” She cries.
“Awake and come! I summon! ”
“Alas, ” I sigh.
I cannot but heed her decree.

You see,
Twas once, long ago,
On a night just like this:
Her grey wolves howling,
Her white owl prowling,
That I wandered unaware
Into the lair
Of the Spider Queen.

Enchantress of the Forest
Witch of the Wilds
Dark Queen of the Primeval

She enslaves any soul who strays
Within her borders.
She alone rules these lands
In secrecy
Through necromancy
With autocracy.

Untamed.
Unbound.
Unclaimed.

But what she doesn’t know is that I am biding my time.
On the night of the celestial nuptials of Venus and Jupiter
A new epoch will open!
A new power will rise!
I!

Yes, I plan to dethrone her.
And then to deflower her.

Her beauty is unblemished.
Her powers worth possessing.
Her will worth bending to mine.

By my side she could ride
Upon a handsome black stallion.
Together we could vanquish
Any power on the planet.

And so tonight I go to her.
I will do as she bids.
I will sit by her side as she spins.
I will flatter.
I will fawn.
I will fetch.
I will fulfill her every wish.

For I know that soon
With the rise of the moon
It will be she not I
Who must comply.

And then how the nights will pass!
In the ecstasy of my ascendency
And her enslavement.
