The Spider And I Poem by Billy Loving

The Spider And I

Attracted by the light
Flying through the night
Unaware of the danger
From the awaiting stranger
Too late, in the web he's caught
Hopelessly, I watch how valiantly he's fought
Cautiously approaching spider
Envenomating the tired fighter
No longer continuing to jerk
Venom starting to work
No sign of his victim he leaves
As the spider rapidly weaves
Satisfied with his prey
I watch the spider scurry away
