The Sound Of Goodbye Poem by nikki irvine

The Sound Of Goodbye

The sound of goodbye,
You don’t need to cry,
Be strong,
As we will get along,
You won’t get lost,
You will always be found,
You wave your hand,
Thinking it’s the last thing you do,
You start to cry,
At the sound of goodbye.

A hug and a kiss,
That you will miss,
A phone call away,
Makes you wish that they could stay,
In the land of dreams,
They will be there,
Holding your hand,
Nice and tight,
Like they were always there.

You wake up,
And it was a dream,
It maybe the dead of night,
And the stars are twinkling bright,
You can’t sleep,
So why not go for a walk,
To the kitchen and back,
Back to bed,
With them on your mind,
Gotta think,
Gotta find,
That peace of mind.

You try not to cry,
Think of a lullaby,
And dream again,
Call them in the morning,
Just after 10 I think.

Tell them you miss them,
Tell them you will see them again,
Maybe not now,
Maybe not tomorrow,
But soon,
As you cry,
To the sound of goodbye.
