The Soul's Kingdom Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Soul's Kingdom

A cormorant anointed
It on the vertical tip
Of a cross at the head of a grave
Looking at the cross-heads
That array in prayer
In the grave yard silence
As she moved with flowers
With searching eyes
To sight the marble-bed
That make a roof to her
Left and lost with man and son
Leaving her estranged!
Her humpty-dumpty look
Ivoked namby-pamby look
Of the cormorant
That spoke an unfamiliar lingo
To the lady on her knees
And eyes shut in meditation!
The cormorant swirl around
As a torrential lash
And she remained unheard,
Unseen and untouched
As of an oarsman moving
And wading the waves
To the destination yet not seen!
The bird kept by her side
In silence with no mood
To pre-empt the lady in prayer
And they both were ferried
By sharon across styx
And they entered the kingdom
Of souls with no whips
In hand to prevent and punish.
