The Sky Princess Poem by Christian Muller

The Sky Princess

So light are you, young princess of the sky.
You lift me to your kingdom high. With love
You hoist me o'er the glooming clouds, not shy
To gladly lift an Earthly lout above
His mortal mess. Though hanging from your hand
I fear no death that lurks below my feet.
Higher bright maid, and reach the floating land!
Encircled by an ancient puffing fleet.
But not fore'er I can enjoy this plume.
I shall as Oisin yearn for mortal ground.
Yet you shan't let me leave your lofty tune,
For fear that I may hear a better sound.
Although you show the beauty of ideal.
I can't forsake the wonders of the real.
