The Shepherdess Poem by Kathryn Warren

The Shepherdess

She guides her flock of sheep, with ease over rocks and down
mountain vales, taking them to graze in the grassy meadows of the
valleys, below. At her side runs a black-and-white border collie,
the trusted friend. As nighttime falls, she sleeps in the shepherd's hut to the whippoorwill's calls.
Always she protects and keeps safe her charges, as in front of her
eyes flashes her destiny: - to never shirk her responsibility.
