The Sedentary Kind Poem by Francis Duggan

The Sedentary Kind

I envy those happy in their old home-place
Where his or her's is a well loved and respected face
Well known in their community and greatly admired
So many to better things they have inspired,
Their children with their spouses and children do live locally
As an integral part of the local community
Without any desire for to live elsewhere
And try out their luck in the big World out there
With their lot in life they are satisfied
Far more settled than those who travel far and wide
In Countries and places far distant from their old Hometown
In search of adventure, fortune and renown
Compared to the stay at home restless in mind
One can only envy them their sense of place the sedentary kind.
