The Seas We'Ve Passed Poem by Casey Gochnour

The Seas We'Ve Passed

Damn the past, but let it lay be,
Let it drift in that forsaken sea.
Love brought and love lost,
All at a piece of our heart’s cost.

Here we have let it go,
They’ve come and gone, only to show,
That addiction you couldn’t feed,
Clung to for the sake of greed.

Burn, ignite, let flames rise,
Watch as your memory dies.
Don’t chase it, don’t reach out,
Don’t scream, don’t shout,
You’ve walked that route.

As candles lift sweet scents, lit anew,
We rise from ashes, oh glorious you.
A blazing passion with iced veins,
Demolishing burdens, forgetting strains.

Lettings things go from the past,
Those were the things never meant to last.
Though rearing heads may cause pain,
Forever wash clean the demon stain.

It has come and it has gone,
The lesson learned, now new dawn.
Here we are, you and me,
Afloat, together, in this promising sea.
