The Scottish Referendum Poem by Bill Wright

The Scottish Referendum

Scotland's people go to the polls
Fate in their own hands
Casting a vote, YES or NO
For the future of these fair lands.

Will they take the big bold leap
Into a future unknown
It's going to take a lot of faith
In the great big world alone.

Do the people have what it takes
Can they summon up the will
Or the naysayers win the day
And the Union be with us still.

There is so very much at stake
Everyone knows that's true
A big decision for one and all
Get it wrong and they may rue.

There may never be a better time
If it isn't now, then when
So grab the pencil and cast your vote
To make Scotland free again.
