The Sadness Between Us Poem by Katrina Harms

The Sadness Between Us

I watch like a ghost, the disassembly of my life-
The very emblem of my being, vanished
without passion or struggle.
Time is the endless fuel
enflaming me, but what of other luminance?
What are we to do with these
four dimensions too many,
when the weight of being is too much to bear?
When I had you to live for I, at least
found myself momentarily distracted
by the trajectile goal.
And now?
There is too much uncertainty
and too much sadness between us.
What I feel for you, I once called love,
and now know it was yearning
for the truth within myself.
But oh, we would drown this world
with the sadness between us, my friend
And my conscience is overrun.
