The Sad Thing About Religious Fundamentalists Poem by Francis Duggan

The Sad Thing About Religious Fundamentalists

The sad thing about religious fundamentalists is that they never change their mind
The truth in anything outside of their own beliefs they never seek to find
That we only believe what we want to believe as ever does seem true
Yet here's to a fair go for all and give everyone their due
The sad thing about religious fundamentalists is their god they do fear
Of a kind and caring and understanding god from them you never hear
They scoff at the thought of a god within or of one god for all
Even to go to war on their god's behalf they do answer the call
The sad thing about religious fundamentalists is that they think they cannot be wrong
That their's is the only true god and to his church they belong
And that everyone with a different belief to them and every infidel
Are on the road to eternal shame that leads to a hereafter of hell,
They think they are superior and that god is on their side
And their contempt for those with different beliefs to them they do not even try to hide.
