The Reasons That We Feel Poem by Robert Rorabeck

The Reasons That We Feel

The sun into the orchard of its pilgrimage:
I will keep you hereâ€"I will not let you wonder far off:
The rains will swell the wishing well over our
Shoulders,
But she is still no a safe bet: I will cry for you until
There is sunshine raining across all of my scars:
I will put you into new prisons of
Museums and zoosâ€"until I treat you to ride across
My shouldersâ€"
And then I will carry you across the baseball
Diamonds and the school yardsâ€"and I will keep
You into the seamless greenery foreverâ€"
Kissing your lips and amending to youâ€"our lips
Blooming into the crepuscule of our distemperâ€"
Each of us recalling how we feelâ€"
Until we remember the reasons that we feel.
