The Prophet Poem by Zillur Rahman Shuvro

The Prophet

Before creation of cosmos the name what was engraved
In the desire of Allah—Muhammad! A majestic name!
A divine legacy of history! As a great saviour he came
World was immersed in seven deadly sins and blood-stained.

When a prophet comes to world, then it is affected by hurricane
He lost father before his birth and later brought up by his uncle
Willfully Allah makes this plight to the wise men to create example
The boy was apathetic to mundanity and meditated at Hera Mountain.

He was bestowed with honor and afflatus descended to him
His name spread out from door to door and from burg to burg
Swiftly he became popular among idolatrous, cleaver and mug
Brought back wakefulness and was strident against paranoid whim.

He removed all kinds of indecency and social grimes from the desert,
Lighted the lamps into the tents of Bedouins, kept flag on the top of dates
With joy the camels carried his message from tents to golden gates
In this way he reached from native to abroad and heart to heart.

Now he is the symbol of affluence, dignity and worldwide famous
Now he is the holy name from earth to sky and heaven to hell
Love him! Salute him! Or be-gone bigoted guy and scoundrel!
Hundreds and hundreds apothegms are created by him for us.

At day and night the sun makes ballad of him and the crazy butterfly,
Aphis hidden into bark, squid and magpie robin sing the glories of him
Still the world is astonished for his wisdom and philosophical theme!
Ahem! Muhammad! A fortiori he is only one luminous star in the sky.
