The Possession Of Patience (St.Thiruvalluvar In Tamil)

Rating: 5.0

151.As the earth bears up the diggers
It is excellent virtue to bear with the abuse of others.
152.To forbear one’s transgressions is always good.
To forget them is better than it.
153.To insult the guests is want of want.
The might of might is to endure the fool’s taunt.
154.If you grave for your honour not to bid you farewell
You must live by protecting your wealth of patience.
155.It isn’t a matter for the wise to keep the trouble-makers in mind
But they keep safe in mind the forbearers as the precious gold.
156.Those who punish the culprits enjoy a day’s pleasure
But those who bear the ills gain praise till their end.
157.Though others work you improper ills
It is better not to grieve and do vile deeds.
158.Those who commit excesses out of their pride
Must be won by patience in your stride.
159.Those who bear with the evil words of the transgressors
Are as pure as the stern ascetics.
160.Those who do penance by fasting are treated as great
but only next to those who endure the bitter words.
