The Pendulum Poem by Long Tooth

The Pendulum

'Every man is a bigot'
Is sad but it's true
Bred in us for survival
Negation of you!

Oversimplification
Which can save your life
Makes the different suspect
Unless you're my wife.

Though what stirs tribal feeling
Is not always wise
For a wolf in sheep's clothing
Is Death in disguise.

To not compromise ever,
Suggests you're a fool,
Unless God made you perfect
And you're just His tool!

Bigotry makes choice simple,
Unless truth's your goal.
For harsh judgement of others,
Endangers the soul.
