The Past Must Stay There Poem by Ray Hansell

The Past Must Stay There

I think too many times
My present gets ruled by my past
I think about doing something
Than I pause and think, not so fast

Love is a good example
A place where most of us have been
I meet someone, things move along
I suddently stop to remember when

Someone I met years ago
Made me feel the same way
As the feelings I'm feeling
With this person here today

Then I remember what went wrong
I think that maybe today
What went wrong way back then
May happen again that way

That's why I must forget
My failures of the past
I need to love and live life today
As time passes much too fast

I can't live for the future
Worrying about my past
I need to just let it go
Maybe what I found today will last
