The One That Got Away Poem by Timothy Long

The One That Got Away

The day we met, first like the day we separated, always play in my mind, thoughts change just like hair, understand this popular concept, my flowers don't spring like they use, like her heart it's dead, as she got a new one, stronger and less naïve, a bid to forgive through lost time, or so you would think, my shattered youth led to that, a weird and most critical point in my short life, everything since hasn't matched up to the past, although it's been easy and freeler, a tale as bright as life, but as short as the longest shooting star, going through all that pushed me in a different mind, like being a different person, a next step up some claim, a thing presented with no evidence, is to be dismissed without evidence, this language cannot be grasped, a fickle of life forgotten, she went under the radar to another, no strong connections, the boy decided the challenges of change were a good present, be alone there and then on, only occasional acquaintances, bested by everyone else, only one heart and mind left open.
