The Nondescript Flower Poem by Bharati Nayak

The Nondescript Flower

Rating: 5.0

The soft breeze called me
Out into the open vastness
Where lay the green carpet
And the bed of flowers
Stretched to infinity
Sweetly murmuredthe wind.
Clouds formed the blue screen
Rain drops played the music.
Birds were singing
Butterflies flying.
The wind enticed me
To dance with the nature.

Out intothe open
I camemesmerized.
Flowers were swaying
Green carpets welcomed me.

Drops of water
from the sky
Touched my cheeks
I heard the thunder
and felt the lightening.

I heard some one calling
Here and there I searched
And stopped to see
from where came the call.
Wasit from colorful flowers?
I looked for the sound
And at last I found
The small nondescript flower
That was hidden under green carpet
Very near to my feet
Asking me to pick it up.
And to hold it on my palm.

I bowed to pick it up
With all tenderness
Lest it might break.

I could see the light, cloud and rain
All with in
I heard the music
My heart danced with joy
My hands trembled
I could feel the energy
Flowing from it into my hand
I closed my eyes in pure joy
When I opened my eyes
Found the flower nowhere
Perhaps she had melted into my being.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A beautiful comment I receivedthrough an e-mail from Daniel Brickon this poem, I want to share with others.Because Poem Hunter will not allow me to write in more than 300 words, I share it on this story section.
DanielBrick-

Perhaps she had melted into my being" Oh, yes, YES, that is exactly what happened. That tiny flower could have been ignored by you, or carelessly crushed, but instead
you nurtured it and learned from it a powerful lesson: that is, it is not NONDESCRIPT Nothing is nondescript to you, and thus all things enter your soul and live there in safety
and appreciation But your poem does more than rescue a fragile thing of beautyYour imagery creates a kind of imaginative PARADISE, your poem restores paradise by finding
it in our immediate world and not in the mythical past or an ideal future. Here and now we experience the garden paradise in your poem, and once it has touched us with goodness and beauty we will never forget your poetic vision. And the meaning of this imagined paradise is H-O-P-E. That's what your poem and your small but mighty flower give us! !

A lovely poem. The lucidity of poetic expression is quite commendable. Beautifully composed dear poetess.

This poem has been so touchingly and hauntingly inscribed on nature and love that it attracts me to read over and over again. As the colorful flower disappears from your hand when you open your eyes I feel it is a dream or you are in the wave of feelings. However this is a brilliant poem so nicely executed. Full vote.
