The Morning Blues Poem by Dakota Ellerton

The Morning Blues

Rating: 5.0

1am,2am,3am,4am
I stare blankly at the ceiling
your arms surrounding me
my head on your heart
I hear it.. thump thump...thump thump
The heat from your body
warming my icy cold skin
I am in your embrace
I am yours.
All night I lay by your side
All night I am safe.
Morning comes
the light starts to peek through the window
I look up
and you kiss me,
'Hi'.
I am content
no, I am happy
then you tell me
that it hurts
uncontrolable tears begin to stream down my face
I start thinking
1 week,1 month,1 year
It doesn't compare to forever.
What if it's serious?
and you tell me the same words
I wont be around forever.
To call, and have you not answer
to leave you messages, and have you not reply
this I can not imagine
this I could not live with.
You toss and you turn
your body tightens up
still I lay there
still I cry.
You lean over and smile at me
your lips touch mine
still I am crying
stop, stop crying.
Throughout the night
I constantly reach out for you
I hold you, you hold me
time stops.
As I'm laying with you
I close my eyes
tears rolling down my cheek
I smile.
