The Masks We Wear Poem by Qiniso Mogale

The Masks We Wear

We are seldom what we are appear to be
We are seldom what we claim to be
Many people are pretenders
Many people are foxes in sheep skins
Many people are snakes
Many people are Judas Iscariot's
Many people are wearing masks
Many are hiding behind masks.

Many are wearing masks in their marriages
Many are wearing masks in their jobs
Many are wearing masks in their friendships
Many are crying behind their masks
Many are contemplating suicide behind their masks
Many plotting evil behind their masks.

Masks are stuffy
Masks are ugly
Masks are harmful
Masks are evil
Beware your loved ones maybe wearing masks.
