The Magpie Poem by Espen Øye Bjørkvold

The Magpie

There’s a magpie on my window ledge
I see it from my pillow’s edge,
I hope the scottish were not right,
I do not want to die tonight.

Be you please a nordic bird
please then hear my praying word.
Please guard my house tonight,
with your feathers black and white.

Let what I see from my pillows edge,
the magpie on my window ledge,
be a magpie of Asian folklore.
To bring me luck and lots of more.
